                 Metro Reporter — August 2014 – Present
  • City government reporter tasked with following the developments from City Hall, covering citywide issues and elections, keeping up with state-level stories happening locally and working on statewide enterprise stories.

           The Juneau Empire, Juneau, Alaska

                 State Reporter — August 2013 – August 2014
  • State government reporter tasked with following the developments from the state Legislature and governor’s office. Coverage also includes national issues pertaining to Alaska, and working on statewide enterprise stories.
  • Previously — City government and education reporter charged with all significant municipal government issues, school board happenings and semi-regular general assignment work. Typically one to two stories per day, but varies depending on meeting schedules and space needs.

           The Associated Press, Carson City, Nevada

                 Legislative Reporter — February – July 2013
  • Temporary legislative relief reporter. Regular coverage of multiple state government legislature meetings per day, along with Assembly floor sessions and spot news as needed. Days often include 1-2 stories and several briefs, always filing as soon as possible.

                 Metro Correspondent — Summer 2012
  • General Assignment reporter for the metro desk covering a wide range of topics. Frequently assigned stories known to require large amounts of interviews and reporting.

            The Des Moines Register, Des Moines, Iowa

                 Caucus Reporter — Winter 2011-2012
  • Covered the 2012 Iowa Caucuses by following different candidates to campaign stops during the week leading up to the caucus; writing spot news and a history piece relevant to the caucus; and live-blogging and tweeting from Iowa’s largest caucus on caucus night.

Gannett Washington Bureau, Washington, D.C.

Intern Correspondent — Fall 2011
  • Covered the Montana delegation as the beat reporter for the largest Montana newspaper. Including Sen. Max Baucus on the super committee and Sen. Jon Tester who is running against Rep. Denny Rehberg for Senate in 2012.
  • Also included spot news coverage of hearings for any Gannett newspaper requesting a story. Familiar with political jargon and coverage.

The Houston Chronicle, Houston, Texas

Intern, City Desk — Summer 2010
  • Covered news in Houston and the surrounding areas as a general assignment reporter. Reporter on the corpse flower for two weeks while it was a national story, five stories ran, three on the section front and one on A1.

The San Antonio Express-News, San Antonio, Texas

Intern, Digital Crime Team — Summer 2009
  • Covered crime and breaking news in the greater San Antonio area. Stories were usually written from the scene of the incident. Often I was the only reporter covering crime for the paper using police scanners.
